I use APE (Answer it. Prove it. Explain it.) to help children structure their responses to include supporting evidence, and it’s worked so well for me over the past few years. I just stick these bubbles up on my whiteboard while we’re working on inferential and evaluative questions. The blue bubbles are for answer it, purple for prove it and pink for explain it.
